con&kat is inspired by the creepy coolness of the circus, the carnival, the burlesque and the occasional hot rod. Our graphics are also heavily influenced by the world of sports… an odd combination that we think works.

Now in stock: the burnout baseball tee made of 50% cotton, 50% polyester, ultra-thin, slightly stretchy and no one can believe how soft this is… a new shirt with an old soul; the crewneck slub made of 100% Egyptian cotton… soft, striated for unique texture, not too long, not too short, not too wide, not too narrow… perfect.

We’re just a couple of thirty-something’s from a small town just south of Atlanta. One day we laughed about our childhood ventures in the fashion design business; we use the phrase “fashion design” very loosely here. In high school, Michael wrote football players’ jersey numbers on hand towels and sold them to the corresponding members of the football team. In elementary school, Melanie spent her allowance on Beefy T’s which she took home and stenciled with her mother’s stencils and craft paint and attempted to sell them for a profit door to door in her neighborhood. They were incredibly ugly.

Melanie is now a graphic designer and marketer who collects typefaces and paper mache or metal letters and Michael is an entrepreneur who loves to put numbers on his clothes. Melanie is obsessed with shoes, jeans, t-shirts and office supplies. Michael has a very special talent for being able to identify the brand name of any hoodie or t-shirt worn by anyone on television and for kicking rolls of paper towels off the blades of his ceiling fan.

Oh yeah and… Melanie loves her iPhone and Michael hates his Blackberry Storm. We’re just sayin’…

What’s behind the name? We just took the first three letters from the middle names of the two most important people in our lives: four-year-old William Connor and nine-year-old Lexy Kate.
